Welcome to the blog of HistoryofBranding.com!.

Let me explain why I created this site and more importantly why this blog exists!
Everywhere you look we are being impacted by some sort of brand – the computer you are currently using, the organization that is supporting this blog is a brand, the clothes you wear, the food you eat… the list continues.

What exactly is a brand?
The American Marketing Association defines a brand as:
“A name, term, design, symbol, or any other feature that identifies one seller’s good or service as distinct from those of other sellers. The legal term for brand is trademark. A brand may identify one item, a family of items, or all items of that seller. If used for the firm as a whole, the preferred term is trade name.”

In today’s reality we are all a brand – a powerful question to ask yourself is: How am I influenced by today’s brands? Do you influence the brand…or does the brand influence you?

This blog will be valuable in several ways:
1. Provide you with up to date news and information on today’s most powerful brands.
2. Provide you with fresh ideas on how to create a strong brand (and what to avoid)
3. Provide you with great links to great articles and other blogs and sites about branding

Thanks so much for being part of the Historyofbranding.com experience. I hope my enthusiasm and passion for branding will assist you in choosing and loving the brands you support.

All the best,

Ian
